LeanSkills has been developed by Manufacturing Learning Australia in collaboration with a team of professionals with many years experience in Lean implementation, adult education and competency based training. The team is committed to expanding the understanding and application of Lean beyond manufacturing and into areas such as finance, laboratories, healthcare, community services, training and education, government, mining, retail and logistics.

LeanSkills facilitators

Kevin Hummel

Kevin has been working across a range of industry sectors for the past 15 years to identify their essential processes and practices and to translate them into the nationally endorsed competency standards which define the sector’s required skills and knowledge. Kevin has also contributed to the development of the Competitive Manufacturing units of competency which reflect the Australian application of the Lean principles and tools.

Kevin has more than 20 years experience in developing and delivering seminars and in house training programs and learning and assessment resource development in hydrocarbons and petrochemicals, finance, manufacturing, customer service, occupational health, safety and environment, water management and waste management. He has also provided consultancy services to large and small organisations to support their business improvements and Lean implementation and designed and co-facilitated the Nowra Lean Network for Manufacturing Learning Australia.

Kevin holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and is a Chemical Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia. He also holds the Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training BSZ40198 and is a Member of the Australian Institution of Training and Development.

Sarah Quinton

Sarah has more than 10 years experience across industries including government, finance, construction, information technology (IT) and manufacturing. Her specialist areas include organisational development, human resources, leadership, risk management, sales and marketing, project management and Lean continuous improvement.

Sarah has been working with Manufacturing Learning Australia’s Lean implementation networks in the Central West and Shoalhaven regions of NSW.

Sarah holds the BSB51504 Diploma of Project Management, BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training, ICA40799 Certificate IV Information Technology – Systems Analyst and Design and a Bachelor of Adult Education – Human Resources and Development.

LeanSkills team
In collaboration with the two facilitators, the LeanSkills team provides input into the development of the seminar program and the delivery of a suite of Lean services customized to client needs.

Barry Luttrell
Barry is has experience in the mining, mining equipment, quarrying, construction materials, manufacturing and electrical engineering industries and in supporting the implementation of Lean systems in large and small enterprises. He has more than 20 years experience in industry training and skills development programs designed to deliver real workplace outcomes across operations, quality, safety, logistics, people skills, communications and leadership.

Barry holds the TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, BSZ50198 Diploma of Training and Assessment Systems, Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies, Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Honours) and an Electrical Fitter Mechanics Trades Certificate.

Wendy Davies
Wendy has experience in the training and education, laboratory operations, biomedical research, community services, health, chemical, hydrocarbons and industries. She has more than 15 years experience in industry training and assessment programs and assisting organisations with change management.

Wendy holds the TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, the Diploma of Training and Assessment, a Master of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science, and Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science).

Pauline Butler
Pauline has over sixteen years experience in the hospitality industry, including restaurant and event management and managing front of house staff and has owned her own agency supplying staff to hotels, restaurants and function centres. Her expertise include staff management, team leadership, performance management, business planning, recruitment, rosters, payroll and managing small businesses.

Pauline has more than eleven years experience in industry training and assessment, including delivering Training and Assessment qualifications and holds the Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management) and an Associate Diploma of Business (Hospitality).

Celeste Howden
Celeste has experience in small business management, strategic planning, office administration, compliance systems, IT, community welfare and counselling. She has more than ten years experience in the training sector.

Celeste holds the BSZ40198 Certificate IV in Assessment & Workplace Training, BSB41504 Certificate IV in Project Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications.
